👁️ The brief focus

For Cappsula, the project I presented, the brief followed two of the categories of the contest: Design and technology.

How does Cappsula fit the brief?

In the design category, the Cappsula platform would focus on offering products, services and systems that changed the way we purchase, use and discard clothing items. This would happen through brand partnerships that create change in the industry, new business models and offerings of fashion as a service and promoting ways of creating more meaningful relationships with our clothes.

In the technology category, Cappsula would be part of the fashion tech innovation movement, changing the way we wear and get hooked on fashion as individuals. This would happen through digital or immaterial fashion practices and also helping people analyze and interpret fashion in deeper ways through data science.

🚀 Design Process

After having analyzing the brief and considering how the project would fit it, I did many quick sketches of the possible screens and considered as well how the brand’s DNA would affect the development of the proposal.

🌱 Final Submission

Short description of the idea

Cappsula is a platform that helps consumers create healthier and more fulfilling relationships with their wardrobes. We diagnose the current state of their closet using data technology, provide practical resources to help them learn and understand about their relationship with clothing and connect them with relevant brands and stakeholders that can take them closer to their dream conscious wardrobe. In parallel, they have access to a community of people that’s on the same journey they just got into.

The process starts with a closet diagnosis that would help the user understand in numbers how’s his behavior towards clothing, as long with the indicators that could be improved.

🖥️ Dashboard

Users have access to a main dashboard that focuses on the 3 main pillars of Cappsula. At the dashboard they can track their progress on monthly goals and bigger wardrobe goals, see all the courses they’re currently taking and find tips and brands that would help them achieve all these goals.

🔥 Brand finder

Through a series of recommendations and AI, the platform would show users brands they could be interested in, with a focus on sustainable and local brands. This would help users find affordable and ethically made clothing to upgrade their wardrobes when needed, having impact the environmental dimension of their purchases.

📙 Learning platform

Users would be able to take online classes and courses through the platform. The content would be specially designed to help them achieve their fashion sustainability goals, and would work on any device and place.

🌟 Conclusions

Adapting a well established project for a specific contest or brief is not as difficult when the main idea and essence of it is deeply understood. Since I’ve been working on the project for a really long time, adapting it to the Fashion Values submission requirements was a good exercise to see how Cappsula could evolve considering situations that were not initially considered during it’s development.
